Altamont Grade School has been buzzing with excitement and learning this past month, as students and staff wholeheartedly embraced Veterans Day, Education Week, and the 67th day of school with a series of activities and heartfelt acknowledgments.
November 10th saw Altamont Grade School's innovative family pods come together for a special focus on patriotism and service. Students spent valuable time learning about our armed forces, understanding the sacrifices and dedication of military personnel. Then students participated in a thoughtful activity where students created cards for veterans, offering messages of thanks and support to those who have served our country. This activity allowed AGS to spend time with their family pods as well as honor our deserving Veterans.
American Education Week was Nov. 17-21. Teachers and staff were treated to a special gesture of gratitude with delicious cookies from AGS Student Council. Wednesday our bellies and hearts were fueled with a staff potluck, fostering camaraderie and shared enjoyment. Adding a touch of interactive thankfulness, all staff were given Thanksgiving Post-Its and encouraged to express a "thankful" post-it with messages expressing appreciation for staff, friends, and our school.
Friday Nov. 21 was the 67th day of school. We decided “if you can’t beat them, join them” in the 6-7 trend! Staff showcased their creativity by dressing up in themes related to the number 67, sparking smiles, chants, and laughter throughout the hallways. Classrooms then delved into various educational activities centered around the number 67, turning a simple calendar milestone into a unique learning experience…and possibly making the 6-7 trend not so cool anymore!
