3rd Grade

By the third grade, students are no longer learning to read and they must now read to learn.  The books that a third grader reads will both grow in in complexity and length.  Throughout a student’s third grade year they will continue to reinforce their foundational skills that they have already learned.  Students here at Altamont Grade School will continue to reinforce ideas about addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of fact families.  Additionally, third graders will need to know how to use these numbers in equations and two-step word problems.  In our science classes, third grade students will be introduced to experiments and using the scientific method.
