Title I

Title 1 is a federally funded program designed to give extra small group
instruction to assist struggling readers. Title 1 is designed to supplement and
support classroom instruction. Students are selected for the Title 1 program
based on individual assessment, teacher recommendation and classroom 
performance. Students selected for Title 1 receive small group instruction daily for 30 minutes. Instruction is given in the areas of phonics, reading fluency, comprehension, word work (rhyming, word chunks, etc.) and writing. The goals of the program are to foster an enjoyment of books and develop a positive attitude and self-confidence in the student by providing reading success.
